Thanks for the Battles That Rocked My World

Our Soldier’s are our youth our warriors of change that bring us forward into progress and unity and it is time we remembered their sacrifices and allowed them to do their job without sending them to slaughter and rejecting them for their actions.

Our military’s role has been chiselled away to being a gun for hire that is discarded once the job is done. These are our engineers our teachers and our wisdom. Their role should not cease the minute the battle is done. Perhaps if our government focused more on defence instead of diplomacy we could actually celebrate our warriors walking amongst us every day instead of once a year when the next recruitment process is preparing to launch.

Our Soldier’s role could be a lot more than their current over priced training regimens that both dull them and enhance a need to be tough ruthless or deadly. What technology could we develop if our peacetime soldiers were designing our defences and personal safety spaces within our cities and suburbs. At the moment we head to the local when trouble arrives when with a little foresight our nation could lead the way in defence and development.

Deployment in times of disaster and insecurity should inspire our children and remind them of the importance of acceptance and protection not lead them to become tough, badass or violent.

Our warriors should be in our schools in our hospitals in our infrastructures contributing years of tactical knowledge and defensive support. God knows the police could do with some backup at times.

A wounded soldier deserves to keep their job and be put into environments that reminds them why they fought and insipires more from them. A more that lifts their spirits and builds their confidence in their previous decisions. The choice to be a soldier is not an easy one and does not deserve to be scorned upon after their usefulness is done.

1Billon dollars on weapons and a meger strapped budget on the men that carry the burden of using them! Time for a review of what a defence force actually is. Like all systems the human factor should always be considered first.
